Thursday evening, the death news of political figure Atal Bihari Vajpayee has gone viral on social media in many states of India include Rajasthan, Haryana etc. On social media, even a lot of people start paying tribute to the Atal Bihari Vajpayee without knowing the fact. However, many people have confirmed it as a complete hoax. A lot of fans immediately started posting on Whatsapp, Twitter, Facebook, expressing their sadness that the talented 93-year-old political personality was dead. And as usual, Twittersphere was frenzied over the death hoax.
Whereas many trusting fans believed that the spreading news is fake. It is not unusual to wonder about A.B. Vajpayee’s health as he has been living on one kidney since 1984 and ill from a long time. Atal Bihari Vajpayee has counted in the iconic leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), known for his cultural moderation, liberalism and political reasonableness. He became the Prime Minister of India three times. Present Government has declared the conferment of Bharat Ratna on him. His birthday (25 December) has been declared as ‘Good Governance Day’. He was born in a middle-class Brahmin family to Krishna Bihari Vajpayee (who was a poet and a school teacher) and Krishna Devi on 25th December 1924 in Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh). He did his post-graduation with an M.A. in Political Science from DAV College, Kanpur, and was awarded a first-class degree.
He started his career in politics as a freedom fighter. A. B. Vajpayee along with L. K. Advani, B. S. Singh Shekhawat and others from the Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BJS) and Rashtriya Swyamsevak Sangh (RSS) formed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 1980. By 1984 elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had founded itself as an important political party in Indian politics. In 2004 General Election brought about the downfall of the NDA, in which NDA lost almost half its seats and the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) assumed the reins of power. Vajpayee refused to take up the position of the Leader of the Opposition paving the way for Lal Krishna Advani’s leadership of BJP. He now lives in retirement and seclusion owing to ill health.
